FAQ

What is the difference between seconds and milliseconds?

A seconds timestamp has 10 digits, such as 1700000000; a milliseconds timestamp has 13 digits, such as 1700000000000. They differ by a factor of 1000.

Why does the same timestamp show different times in different timezones?

A timestamp is the same absolute moment, but each timezone has its own local time. The displayed date and time change with the timezone.

Why do I need a timezone when converting a date to a timestamp?

The same date text represents different absolute moments in different timezones. The timezone determines the exact Unix timestamp.

Which date formats are supported?

YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS is recommended. Common slash-separated dates and ISO 8601 with an offset are also supported.

Is there a timestamp range limit?

The browser date range typically supports years from 1970 to 9999. Values outside that range show an error.

Is any data uploaded?

No. Timestamp parsing, timezone conversion, and formatting all run locally in your browser.
